"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13
At the Evangelical Baptist Church of Pétion-Ville, in the 1990s, God used His servant, Magdala Voltaire Duré, to create the renowned a cappella group, Halehem.
Through its unique style, the group resonated the message of the Gospel across Haiti. This ministry brought many souls out of darkness into the light of the Gospel, and thousands of Christian lives were edified.
Years later, Sister Magdala moved to the United States, but the work did not stop. While the sisters in Haiti continued proclaiming God's glory, Sister Magdala, guided by God, founded two other Halehem groups in different cities where she lived in the U.S.: Halehem Miami (1997) and Halehem Houston (2006).
Today, the growth of this ministry is evident, as reflected in the establishment of Halehem Foundation International. It is a gathering of nearly all the sisters who have been or are still part of the Halehem groups.
With new objectives, visions, and missions, this great family of Halehem sisters—from Haiti, Germany, France, Canada, and the United States—has come together to continue working collectively in the Lord's vineyard. Their theme verse, "Let us arise and build," found in Nehemiah 2:18, unites them in purpose.
These sisters have risen with one heart to build in the Master's work. Halehem Foundation International represents an expansion of the mission and vision of the Halehem groups. The God who began this good work in these sisters will continue to strengthen them for the glory of His name and the edification of His people.
